THIS is the easiest part. You’re going to need a CJ account if you don’t have one already. You can sign up and login to your account there. You can alternatively use Linkshare to try to find companies that will accept the applications of international residents. We have not personally used them, but they are a major affiliate network so they should work just fine.
The key here is simple – find a program in virtually any niche and look to see how much they pay you. You will probably want to look for between a $1 and $25 payout per lead, or at least 10% per sale (if it’s a high priced item, more if it’s a low priced item).
You need to read exactly what action your customers need to take so you get paid though. While sometime they might just need to fill out a simple form, other times they will need to get phone consulting from a company before you get credit.
You can easily do this by clicking the dollar amount for under the “sale” and “leads” header… You can find all the merchants under the “Get Links” header in your account. While $100 per lead sounds great, once you read the terms and conditions, you’ll find that it requires a lot of work on your customer’s part to actually get that $100.
Actually, in fact, so much so that it would be much easier to get 50 customers for a simple $2 per lead program. If you get a higher commission program that pays a higher per lead and you think you can get people to complete the action required to make you a commission, don’t be afraid of it. It’s only a guideline. And remember, several times is about finding what works for you.
Now, should you choose Pay Per Sale (PPS) or Pay Per Lead (PPL)? That’s up to you. Personally, I have had more success with Pay Per Lead programs, but that’s not to say we haven’t made money from Pay Per Sale programs. Both of them can be successful.
What niche should you choose to find these programs in, then? Here’s just the tips. It really, honestly doesn’t matter. Seriously, people stress so much on finding the perfect niche that few actually end up taking action. Think of it this way: You can either own the entire pie of a small market, or a small slice of a big market. The amount of money you make could end up being the same. I think you understand what about it.
Here’s what you need to do. Use your brain and just pick one of the programs and run with it. Find one that works for you, then apply the several method to dramatically increase it’s effectiveness.
As I said above, you’re going to be writing 20 brief articles related to the topic, so find something that you’re going to be remotely interested in or experienced with. Actually you should know that certain fields are obviously going to boast more PPL programs than others.
How to start it? You might want to look for more “service oriented” niches…for example, helping people find a career, legal services, telecommunications, and several more. As I said before, though, don’t get too locked up with this.
Just find something and run with it. Why such the lenient approach? Think no matter how much research you do, the success or failure of the project comes down to more important things, such as the content of the articles and the quality of the programs you are campaigning. Sometimes you will have complete, utter failures and other times you’ll have raging successes with this model. The problem usually is not your niche, so get that thought of your head right now.
